D.O.P@E is empowering software engineers in Tanzania, here’s how you can contribute
We, at Ellipsis Digital, have been working hard at nurturing the next wave of Tanzanian software engineers through our Developers Outreach Program (D.O. P @E). We are committed to doing this because the tech world is an industry that is constantly changing and Tanzanian software engineers need to keep up with the pace in order to successfully provide solutions through tech for people who are in and out of the country. With this mission in mind, we have recently conducted our latest D.O.P@E training titled ‘Introduction to DevOps’
The training was conducted on Friday, May 21th, 2022 from 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs, and it was facilitated by Denis Rwelamila who is a Senior System Software Developer. DevOps is important in the software development process as it is the combination of cultural philosophies, practices, and tools that increases an organization’s ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity. Basically, it is an approach that enables faster development of new products and easier maintenance of existing deployments. The training explored several ways that DevOps is beneficial to both the engineer and the customer, and how as a tool and an effective approach, it helps an engineer to do the work efficiently and quickly.
The skills offered through the recent training and other D.O.P@E training sessions have been beneficial to software developers and the Tanzanian tech industry in so many ways. First of all the training gives new graduates a leg up on all things related to the industry, it helps them to be upskilled and informed on what’s new in the tech industry which is useful in the job market. The program also connects these tech professionals with companies that are in need of their services and solutions and hence alleviates the unemployment challenges recent graduates may face. In this way, the Developers Outreach Program (D.O.P@E) is positively contributing to the Tanzanian tech space and youth skills development based on the testimonies of the attendees over the years.
